Sugar Cookies Easy Enough for a Kid

If my kid can do it, yours can too.

After watching The Christmas Chronicles for the 34,483 time in a row, we decided to make some cookies with my grandma. These cookies are my grandmother’s recipe, and after she had 5 kids, she’s perfected a simple recipe to help get the kids get involved, and the mess in minimal so you don’t lose your shit afterwards. Here’s the recipe, with the help of Charlie and Gi-Gi. Enjoy!

Yields: 3 dozen cookies

1 Egg

3 Cups All Purpose Flour

1 Cup White Sugar

1/2 Tsp. Salt

2 Tsp. Baking Powder

2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

1 Cup ( 2 Sticks) Salted Butter

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Mix your butter and sugar until smooth

  3. In the same bowl, mix in extract and egg

  4. Grab another bowl, and combine your baking powder, salt, and flour

  5. SLOWLY, add the dry ingredient bowl to your wet ingredient bowl (the dough will be dry and “crumbly”)

  6. Spread flour on a countertop surface and knead the dough into a ball, then spread (wet your hands if it’s too dry still)

  7. Cut and shape the cookies

  8. Place cookies on a nonstick surface or else this will be a complete waste of time

  9. Set the timer for about 6-7 minutes (they will come out soft in the center)

  10. Let them dry, decorate, and enjoy!
